Wizard Games

The Internet (and more than a few real stores) is full of fascinating and fun wizard games for children and adults of all levels. Some are simple and fairly easy to learn in a relatively short amount of time and some can be very complicated. There are also several well-known massively multiple online games (MMOs, for short) where a lot of the major characters are some sort of wizard (or “mage”).

Most people find that playing wizard games online is generally the best way to go about immersing one’s self in the wizarding world. A current popular game is Dragon Wizard,  which allows a player to fly his or her dragon into battle. Using only what can be purchased or bought, a wizard will select from a variety of weapons and other tools to use in defense.

It’s also fairly easy to use, with only a keyboard’s arrow keys (for direction) and the spacebar (to fire). There are 13 different levels of increasing difficulty in this shooter game and there are spells that can be bought and then used when needed. The upper levels can get really interesting, with severe weather and gravity orbs to fight off.

When it comes to strategy/wizard defense online games, Wizard Defense is also interesting. It can be played for free and it’s full of all the fun things that can make a wizard game so interesting. Monster hordes are approaching the hometown of a player’s character wizard (Aludra Village) and Fahn the wizard must be controlled so that he can raise his staff to prevent the village from being destroyed.

There are spells to be learned from four different elements (Fire, Thunder, Earth and Ice), first of all. There are also 35 different levels of play and 19 separate races of monsters to beat before all is said and done. There’s only a little more than 4 megabytes of game to download and it’s probably more for younger people just starting out or those who are looking to sharpen their skills before moving to World of Warcraft or other online games.

In addition, there are all kinds of Harry Potter-related wizarding games, including one called Duel with the Death Eaters. These evil wizards and witches first made their first serious appearance in Order of the Phoenix, and they’re very bad.  A player takes on the role of Harry Potter, who has to defend the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry from attack by the Death Eaters.

Harry must use his Defense against the Dark Arts skills to duel with a variety of Death Eaters, of course, and there are levels to advance through. The longer the duel goes on the more powerful the Death Eaters become, so skill is required in the dueling.

There are probably more games than be easily counted. So look to see what’s most interesting and can actually teach wizarding skills along the way.
